I don’t really do anything special. I drank itworks hair vitamins postpartum. But that is about it. I use good hair products, but I don’t think the fullness has anything to do with that. I don’t bleach my hair often, I try to keep it healthy by cutting off an inch or 2 every so often.

I’m thinking a nice brown with lighter tips. Hopefully I will have patience for the process. My sister and I are notorious for not sticking it through all the way and going back to black. I am going to try my best not to.

Ur hair makes me want to dye mine back to black
Also, are u having Suzy at Monroe Salon do ur hair? I know uve had her dye ur hair before but if u are planning to go more than a shade lighter I can tell u from my experience that I haven’t had good results with her sorry to say :/
She took my hair lighter (not blonde lighter) from black too and my hair hasn’t recovered since. And I tried her out more than just once because I’m all for giving someone the benefit of the doubt, but since her attempt to lighten my jet black hair, I’ve spent so much time and money trying to repair the damage.
Just my 2 cents would hate to see ur beautiful black hair get ruined.

PS I think black is ur color 🙂

Hi Emme. Ty I love black hair but I have had it for the past 15 years. 2 times I have had it lightened to a nice brown once it was done by Artur at Art Loris and once by Suzy. They both did a great job and didn’t damage my hair. It sucks that you had such a bad experience. I had driven them both crazy by reiterating over and over again how much it meant to me to go through the process slow in order to not damage my hair. Realistically I accept that some will be damaged so I would get trims and use great treatments, but they honestly both did a great job. We are going to go slow again and see what happens. I will post the results as we go along. Thanx for your input hun.

Hi Anyut..I’m also in the process of lightening my hair from blue black and I too am going through the slow process in order to keep my hair as healthy as possible. In the past Alen M. has done my balayage but back then I had brown hair. Apparently they don’t take anyone with ANY black in their hair now. I have messaged @harttofcolor from butterfly loft salon but haven’t heard back yet. I went to violet in Burbank for my first session of full highlights and I was THAT happy with my results. Who wld you recommend for my next session? I want to do it asap! Thanks in advance.

Hi Vanuhi jan. Ya I have heard that most stylist don’t take clients with black hair. I think those stylist just don’t want the headache of potentially burning the clients hair and having to deal with it. In my opinion they are not confident in their work and don’t want the challenge (or can’t handle it). A true color guru can only do that. I love those stylist that work with brown hair give them nice highlights and consider themselves to be great colorists when ANYONE can do that lol. Anyway I love Suzy’s work at Monroe, Sako (Rocco) and Penthouse in Glendale, I think they do great color! I just think you need to annoy the shit out of them by constantly reminding them to go slow and not jeopardize the texture of your hair. Thats what I have always done. Try out Suzy, she really is great.

OMGG please be careful!! SUZY at MONROE burned the living life out of my hair, I will NEVER step a foot into that salon, she didn’t even take fault for it which says a lot about her you have beautiful hair please be careful .. I have thick coarse brown hair she lightened it to a vanilla blonde (no one has ever burned my hair because I have good thick hair) so for her to burn my hair says a lot.. just be careful.. I’m currently still recovering , I’ve spent so much money and I’ve been in hibernation mode because of what she did to me .

I meant wasn’t**** in Violet’s case lool. But I totally agree. It doesn’t make any sense not to take clients with black hair because you’re a COLORIST FOR A REASON!! Anyway, I will definitely call Suzy and schedule thanks so much for your feedback Anyut jan!!!

Anyut jan I just wanted to thank you for referring me to Suzy at Monroe. I went in today and she did a complete color correction on me and got rid of ALL the black in my hair. I got a wayyy better result than I was expecting. She got me to an even gorgeous golden brown. And the best part is my hair is still super healthy and soft. Thanks so much!!!
