Hey Guys,

About 2 weeks ago I ordered these health hair vitamins from Sephora.com.
Because I know what was coming to me … HAIR LOSS after giving birth. For some women this can be pretty traumatic because they literally lose patches of hair, and go bald. Fortunately for me I didn’t lose a lot after my first pregnancy (but let me not speak to soon) cause I don’t know what will happen this time around. Our bodies respond differently to each pregnancy. So I wanted to take prophylactic measures and take hair vitamins right around the time (3-4 months postpartum) hair loss usually begins. Literally 3 days into taking the pills I gave myself a stomach ulcer. I had the worst stomach pain every single morning on an empty stomach and it took me a minute until I figured out it was because of the pills. Of course I took it right back to Sephora. If any of you guys have taken these and gotten good results please let me know.

Hi! You need to try hair skin nails by It Works . I have taken them since the birth of my 2 children. Very gentle on the stomach and the results are astounding ! I would be happy to show you my results and give you more info . Plus there are no chemicals or fillers in the 2 pills a day .

I took those for over a year and they made my hair grow faster but didn’t really do much as far as actual hair loss. I just had to go to the salon for trims more often but my hair was falling out at the same rate. Also, I took them at the end of the day before bed and had no issues.

I’m 4 months post-partum as well and the hair loss is just now starting for me and it’s pretty intense I have to say. I did, however, ask my dr about it and he said there’s really not much we can do, it’s just our body’s response to the dramatic drop of hormone levels :/

    Hope that helps!

Apply Castor oil every or every other night onto your roots and wash it off in the morning, and continue taking your prenatal vitamins. Try it out for a month or two and if you love the results, share with others. 😉

So I do the castor oil on my eyebrows and the results really are great, but I can’t imagine applying that thick oil on my hair and then washing it off every single day. It’s too tedious.

I totally agree with you, but I think the results are worth the short term struggle lol. I have done it myself and my hair is now much thicker and stronger. I personally don’t like and do not recommend taking any oral substances “vitamins” that claim to work because of their possible side effects on the liver and overall health. So the only product that I can think of, that truly works without consuming is this oil.

I’d recommend simply sticking to biotin. I know this product contains biotin but it also comes with extra baggage that aren’t necessary. Biotin will do the job and is more natural. If you can find sublingual Biotin supplements, that’s ideal for maximum absorption. Usually the cause of post partum hair loss is related to iron deficiency, so eating iron rich foods such as spinach and lentils help tremendously with hair loss. Hope that helps. (P.S love your blog and if it adds any credibility, I’m a Nutritionist lol)

I was in the exact same place as you last year. I gave birth in January 2015 and my hair started falling out in a few months, as expected. A combination of 5,000 mcg biotin, castor oil mixed with coconut oil exfoliating scalp massages on a bi-weekly basis, and obviously eating well helped a lot. Believe it or not, I am experiencing minor hair loss again and I have no idea why since it’s been almost two years. I’m a bit impatient this time so besides re-starting the same routine as above, I’ve been searching for products to achieve faster results. I haven’t tried them yet but this is what I’ve discovered so far: 1) My hairstylist mentioned that there is a Kérastase anti-breakage treatment which doesn’t prevent hair loss, but makes hair stronger so there is less fallout. 2) The Aveda Invati Trio System for thinning hair. It just encourages hair growth and also reduces hair loss (This is what I just started). No idea about the results yet, but It’s worth a shot! p.s. love your blog. 🙂

Hi! I didn’t experience it with my second pregnancy, but for sure did with my 2nd and 3rd pregnancy I love the selection at Whole Foods stores. The one that helped me the most was the Megafood
SKIN, HAIR & NAILS Vitamins. I take it with orange juice, because my doctor said it helps your body absorb the iron…really love your blog❣️
