Product Review

Hey Guys,

I am ready to review the hakuho-do + Sephora Pro Brush Collection.  Here are the 3 brushes I purchased about 2 weeks ago and have used them almost every day since in order to review them:

This one is the large teardrop pointed powder brush. I didn’t like the hair of the brushes at all. If you guys have used Hakuh0-du Brushes before, you will see the huge difference. The bristles felt synthetic and didn’t disperse my product evenly, whether it was bronzer I was applying or powder. I didn’t like the application at all.
image
So this one is the wedge sloping powder brush. I loved how it was wedged at the tip to really press in my powder, but I didn’t like how long and loose the bristles were, especially for loose powder application. As you guys have read in the past my 2 favorite brushes for loose powder application which I have been using for years are the Laura Mercier Face Brush, and the Bdellium Tools Studio 993. These brushes have short bristles which don’t allow too much movement. Making it more dense and giving me better coverage with loose powder. I also didn’t like the texture of the hair as I mentioned before. So even though the tip was slanted, which I liked, I didn’t get to press in my powder cause of how much the hairs moved.

Did you guys notice that my photos have a little more lighting to it?! After 1 year and 5 months of remodeling I have FINALLY moved back into my house!!! We had been living out of our pool house all this time -__-. Anyway I am hoping for better lighting and brighter photos from here on forward lol.

Moving on to the next brush… which is the small teardrop pointed highlighter brush. Once again didn’t like it. I bought this brush for the purpose of setting my under eye concealer or for highlight application. The bristles were not soft enough and once again felt synthetic. I have a few brushes with this shape, one specifically cost me 9 dollars by Stilazzi #S133, which I LOVE. The bristles move better an are much softer, giving my a more airbrush application.

All-in-all I am very disappointed in this collaboration. Till next time. 🙂

XoXo,
Anyut

Best Of Both Worlds!

I am loving the new Too Faced Blushes!!! Not only is the packaging adorable, but the product itself is outspoken! Goes on velvety smooth, amazing color payoff, has such a nice glow, and is long-lasting. What more can you ask for in a blush?!

Here are the ones I picked up:
imageI swear I wanted to like all of them! But I couldn’t bring myself to like all the colors lol.
imageSorry the lighting in my photos isn’t that great. I have been remodeling (more like re-building) for over a year now, but in a few days I will finally move back into my house. Point being…I will be able to take photos with proper lighting! yay!

Here are the swatches, in the same order I posted the blushes. Starting with Love Hangover on the left, middle is I Will Always Love You, and last we have Baby Love.

Born This Way

You guys have no idea how excited I was when I found out about this foundation a month ago. I literally visited or called a Sephora store every day to find out when it was going to launch. I am talking about the new Too Faced Born This Way foundation that hit the stores about a week ago.
image
(don’t ask about my nail polish color. It’s ugly. I know. I don’t know what I was thinking. SO NOT ME)
image
I picked mine up on Wednesday at the Sephora in Sherman Oaks. They didn’t even have them on display yet, and no testers were made. I read the shades on the website, guessed which color I thought I would be, and asked the beauty consultant to bring me the color Sand from the back. I was dead right! I know this cause,   ONE: Sand looks great on my skin tone and TWO: 4 days later I went to the Americana Sephora who finally had all the testers out, tried all the colors and Sand ended up being the right color. Anyway. I used the foundation all weekend in San Diego and even a few days prior to going. And I’m sad to announce that I don’t love it. I really really wanted to love it but I just don’t.

Here is what I think: It feels heavy on my skin, like I’m caked, it’s dewy (I prefer matte), it has medium coverage (it’s build-able, but as you build you feel cakey). I kinda feel like if I’m going to use a foundation that feels this heavy, then it better give me ULTIMATE coverage, kind of like the Becca foundation that I love, or Estee Lauder Double Wear. Oh ya…It didn’t make my skin break out or give me any blemishes, and it was not long-wear (which is a real bummer for me). Let me know if you guys have used this product and feel any different.

XoXo,
Anyut

I love your blog. Give the MAC pro longwear waterproof foundation a try. A little goes a long way and it still looks like skin- not cakey at all.

ya and they smell amazing. I almost bought their shampoo and conditioner as well but it was so concentrated on UV protection I ended up changing my mind, they smelled so good though!
